Story time

We all have stories to tell but so many people take their best tales to the grave with them.

Write on....

Is there a person in this town that doesn't have or is working on a screenplay? Where ever I go I see people carrying notebooks or laptops working on their screenplay working on that new Great American Dream, selling that multi dollar screenplay! Today at yoga class the woman who works at the studio says she's taking time off so she can work on her script. There is another guy who works there that is always working on a screenplay and that's just to name two. Not only are the workers at the studio have screenplays but the teachers and students as well. Whatever happen to the Great American Novel. Even one of my favorite authors is spending too much time in Hollywood instead of working on writing another book , sigh, his books are sheer magic!

Shop till you drop....

The heat wave is back, so to stay out of the heat I took mom to Brea Mall and we shopped a little at Nordstrom. Didn't buy much. Went to a cooking supply store in the mall and go some real cool stuff for the kitchen. I love to cook too bad it's so hot though. This tomb stone is at Rose Hills.

A room with a view....

Photo has nothing to do with the subject matter but I like the photo I took from my balcony while I was staying in San Diego.

One thing I enjoy about having a local sports bar to hang out in after yoga class is the fact you have a small town, community feeling about the regulars. I've seen people get married, get divorced, fall in love, fall out of love, change jobs, bitch about their jobs and reveal secrets about their lives. It's great character study.

One thing I've notice, why do people gain weight when they get married? This is just not a female problem, I've seen it in men sock on the pounds as well after they have slipped on that wedding band!

Hell, I attended a gay wedding a few years ago of two very old college friends and since they've been married to each other they have balloned! Don't even want to think of those two doing the wild thing! Like watching whales mate in Sea World! And when I was college pals with on of those guys he had his mouth wired so he could lose weight, which he did!

Today, a guy who has been MIA since he got married returned to his old watering hole. His wife was out shopping with her girlfriends. When I first met him (pre - marriage days) he was in real good shape, he went to the local very high end gym in town. Now he has gained a lot of weight! He's damn, chubby and here was a guy who use to jog to his gym!

Weight Watchers should warn people , you want to lose weight? Don't get married!

Grave situation

Sometimes after my afternoon yoga class I'll stop by Rose Hills Cemetery to feed the ducks, clear my head and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the grounds. I have to drive by Rose Hill each day in order to hop on the freeway towards my studio. They have something for every faith. This is their Buddhist temple / crypt there is always a monk or a nun around to help you. I love sitting on top of the hill to meditate and clear my head. So much of my life seems to have me running around like Alice in Wonderland and I do need to take some time just to stop and take a mental break.

The idiot's guide to the universe...

Just bought a new cyrling iron, have you ever read the special instructions for such things? It states ;"Not use while in the bath tub?" Oh really? I mean what idiot say's ;"Gee, while I soaking in the tub , I think I'll curl my hair!"? Then there is a real gross one that states "For external use only!" Don't even want to think of the person who will get some strange ideas of how to play with a curling iron!

If you knew sushi like I knew sushi...

At least there is some what of a breeze to blow this 90 degree hot air around. I'm still baking alive but at least I don't feel like I'm in an oven on low bake! After yoga class, I felt as if I just stepped out of a steam bath, thank goodness the teacher kept the windows open! I was a little sad that James didn't teach class today but happy that he was back on a shooting set with Fox Studios. I was a little worried that with the new season of "24 " with a new female president that his character may have been replaced but it appears they're keeping him. Great news about a truly great guy! After class, I needed to cool down with a tall glass of cold beer and sushi. The sushi was tasty and the beer hit the spot!

Life is just ducky!

The heat is still on. I feel like the Wicked Woman of the West; "I'm melting, melting, melting..." This morning I went to yoga class and thank nirvana the teacher had the windows open and fans on! Some of the yoga teachers feel that fresh air is kryptonite!

We're having a heat wave..

If I have to heard one more time the question:"Is it hot enough for you?" I think I'll throw up! Okay; it's hot, but "HELLO!" It's summer! This is how it's suppose to be. Hot! Kind of wish I was a kid again and spend all day playing on a slip & slide or in a sprinkler! Talk about the simple pleasures. Yes, it's hot but it's not humid and cools down in the evening. Count your blessings!

You can't always get what you want....

Sunday, sunday, sunday.... after yoga class feeling rather blue because I started to casually date a guy who plays for the major leagues NBL and I can't see him very often because HELLO it's baseball season. I'm not really certain that I even want to be involved with this person, he's sweet but not my type. I mean his body is sheer perfection but his mind, well we can't have everything! Why can men love a woman who is just eye candy? He's sweet and we have fun, but we haven't done anything yet, like kids. It's kind of fun but now he wants me to go to Maui with him when the season is over for a long week of getting to know each other. But I don't know if I should go. I love Maui but we're strangers , really, only dated a few times and had a great time but a whole week? Help, what should I do?

This Sunday so stressed out about this matter I went to Le Petie Greek and ate like this guy!

Prelude to a KISS

While walking around the Comic Con floor I turned the corner and I saw Gene Simons of KISS signings autographs. He was ever so sweet. When he saw me taking photos he smiled and shouted at me :"Would you like me to stick out my tongue Love?" I didn't know if that was a photo opt or an invistation? I just smiled and said ;"No thank you, thanks for the photo!" He then smiled and said :"My pleasure, Cutie!" What a lovely man!

. A walk on the beach

Sometimes life seems so cruel and heartache too strong that I just want to jump on the freeway and get away. Today I just felt so overwhelm by being the ever strong dutiful daughter and took a long drive up the coast!

Death takes a holiday

This photo was taken at the Comic Con , it was huge wall to wall poster at Dark Horse of Neil Gaiman's Sandman. I entered the somewhat twisted world of the Dream King viva his novels. My ex had his book "American Gods" around and one day out of sheer boredom I picked it up and got hooked like a junkie to crack and get my daily fix from his blog. Really, very interesting to read. It's not just in your face self-promotion but really insights and daily life of a very interesting writer.

Oaky, enough about fandom!

During the Con I would see these guys dressed as jedi knights, strom troppers, pirates and super heros and wondering what is the male attraction? These super hero never seem to have much luck with women. Luke Skywalker didn't get the girl (okay she was his sister - which I though was a rip off) but he didn't get any girl! Superman you would think have any woman he wanted and makes me wonder what he sees in Lois Lane. All seem somewhat awkward with beautiful women and not cool at all. So guys why are you dressing up as them? They certainly looked cute dressed up though.

I got those gee I wish you loved me oh do well see you later blues

One reason I love a small sports bar is that it gives me great insight into the male brain. Today while sipping my sweet martini the guys next to me got a huge plates of greasy fast food. Fries, onion rings, pizza : "Hey; it's the weekend you don't diet on a weekend." said one guy as he ordered another beer." You don't need to diet at all once you understand that you are in control of your hunger." I stated. "I mean if you someone tells you not to think of pink elephants guess what's going to pop up in your mind?" They laughed then I said:"It's like everything else, we always want more what we can't have." Then since I was talking to guys I stated "Confess it; you always want that chick that is hard to get but the minute she says she's into you, you want to run! What's up with that!" Well, it you know , we like the chase. It's all about the hunt!" So what does that make us, great game, you hunt us, shot us, stuff us and mount us as a trophy then forget us? After my enagemnet was broken my friends told me to check out on-line dating so I checked out the sites, all these guys stated "Not into games." Oh, really? Then why are you on an internet web page, this is the biggest game there is ! I didn't sign up, I get guys hitting on me at Starsbucks with their smooth words and lies; I don't need to go one line for a guy to lie to me on-line! But what is it with you guys that seem to want that bitch? That woman that makes you jump through hoops? Let me know!

It came from outer space...

Despite the fact I'm back to the real world of yoga, freeways and just general realityI'm still haunted by events of the Comic Con. Yesterday, after my yoga class decided to have sushi for lunch. As I sat sipping my beer (hey I'm a yogini but I'm human) three studio girls from the Paramount lot came in, designer purses and BlackBerries in hand. They spoke in a mind numbing speed, while they ordered and texted messaged like women possessed. At one point they brought up the subject of "StarDust" and the premier on Sunday. One stated that she heard Neil Gaiman complained at the after party that he was stuck at one spot because everyone wanted to talk to him. "AND THAT IS A PROBLEM; BECAUSE?" stated two other women in unison. This was hard to believe, for I've just spend a week watching the great writer flash by and he was ALWAYS gracious to everyone who went up to him. Now, he may had sigh and lamented that he couldn't just enjoyed himself with his two children and eat the foods and just mingle like a regular party guest. It must be a pain to always have people fuss over you. It must always be a pain to always be so kind and gracious. Then this very beautiful young woman was giving a thrid person account and could be full of beans! Studio types do like to boast about information they don't really know to make them sound more important! No sounder had this story been dropped that one of the woman got a text message about the great talent. writer. I felt a bit of Black Berry envy, would had loved to read that text Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite writers! Then the subject of Stardust was dropped and they started to name drop so quickly I felt like I was listening the "E" station on light speed. All the time while they eat their sushi and sipped their Green Ice tea they never stopped text messaging! They wolfed down their food so quicky I don't know how they could enjoy their meal! No wonder so many of these studio girls take yoga classes at Center for Yoga; they need to just relax and say 'OM"!

A beach with a view

One thing I was grateful for was the fact that I didn't stay at the Comic Con's hotel's venue but chose to stay on Coronado Island at the beautiful Hotel De Coronado! During the day I would walk the Con floors getting blisters on my blisters and in the midafternoon take the ferry back to the island. Enjoy sipping cocktails on the hotel's speacial beach deck watching the sun go down. Eat dinner then walked along the beach and it was a full moon! Just magical. My only regret of the Comic Con is the fact I didn't meet the handsome Neil Gaiman, or even teh great Ray Bradbury and I didn't see the famous female ghost of the Hotel de Coronado. Wouldn't that be so cooooooooooooooooool!

A beach with a view

One of the greatest joys of the Comic Con (besides seeing the handsome Neil Gaiman flash by) was my stay at the Hotel de Coronado. After getting blisters on my blisters I would take the ferry back, get to my hotel, sip cocktails on the beach platform area soaking up the midday sun and after a wonderful meal I would walk along the beach. It was a full moon and the beach as well as the hotel was just magical! I regret I didn't see the famous ghost of that hotel! How cool could that be! ?
