1. Suffering is everywhere.
2. Suffering has a cause and an effect.
3. There is freedom from suffering.
4. Freedom is an eightfold path.
One main truth of Buddhism is the truth that God wants us to be happy. Desire and attachment is often the cause of our suffering. Boy, do I know that fact! Only heart break and heart ache come out when I fall in love.

It is true that if you are detached from everything, including your body, you are free from suffering. But I wonder what is left to experience. I think I'd rather suffer that never allow anything to touch me.
"Only heart break and heart ache come out when I fall in love."
Isn't it attachment that grows out of love that causes pain and not love itself? Isn't it the want to 'possess' something and someone that causes this pain when we cannot attain it? Is it possible to love without wanting to make someone 'yours'? And therefore eliminate the possiblity or atleast minimise the pain of heartbreak?
Too many questions... :)
Its better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all!
Love isn't about possession but what is heartbreaking when I see my beloved who once loved me grow cold and distant and leave me as if I'm a dry flower that has lost it's bloom.
Hi Yoga Gal! The vulnerability that loving and being loved requires is both beautiful and really painful, especially when that love ends. You are not a dry flower -- you are a vibrant lotus floating on a gentle pond in the morning sun.
:)
Hi Yoga Gal! This morning I suddenly thought I hope my lotus comment didn't come across in a strange way. I just meant that you're 31 years old for pete's sake!! You're not a dry flower, as you wrote in one of your comments. The cool photo of the Buddha made me think of a lotus flower, since that is the flower always associated with him. Morning light referred to your young age. I feel bad that this guy made you feel like a dry flower. I know tons of women though, no matter what their age, feel this way, though, when a romance ends.
:)
