Stealing beauty

Today I had to take my mother to have cataract surgery. It was one of those same day operation centers and while there I couldn't help but notice that there was no one under 60 scheduled surgery. I listened to their conversational exchange of information ; "What are you in for?" (like the dialogue in a bad prison movie). And all these Senior Citzens revealed what part of their body was in for repairs. It was a little depressing. Our bodies are like an expensive sports-car like a Ferrari or Maserati but these cars take a lot of TCL to maitain and very expensive to repair. And after they're repaired they really never do run the same. Like these poor souls, after all the surgery and drugs their bodies will never be in the shape it was in their youth. Whoever coined the word Golden Years didn't have a clue of what they were talking about!

My mother is doing fine but worn out!

1.) Bee pollen
2.) Apple cider vinegar
3.) Wheatgrass juice

(Don't get any wheatgrass juice unless they offer you something to wash it down with. So that means forget about Whole Foods.)

Ah well, flesh is mortal and therefore decays and it happens to us all. The Golden Years means more to do with nothing left to fear I suspect.

Best wishes for your mother's recovery. When my mom got cataracts removed, she was beginning a late-in-life new career as a social worker (in her 60's), and doing an internship working with battered women. So, after the surgery, she went in with a black eye--of course no one believed her when she told them the reason, but it apparently gave them more confidence that she could understand their problems.

Oh I hear you. When my Mom had her cataract off (the first one), we went for a drive down a parkway here. It was fall, and she could really see the colors.

My boss says that he thinks that our bodies were meant to last till 40, and then they start to break down. I think he may be onto something there.

Bette Davis said that old age ain't for sissies. Clever girl!
